Well…hey hey hey welcome to my blog!!
Thank you for taking the time to read and share in my exciting news. I can’t wait to walk out this incredible journey with every one of you.
I’m Kaylin. My birth name is Makaylin and for pretty much my entire life I’ve taken off the Ma for who knows why. I was born and raised in the Gresham/Troutdale/Portland, Oregon area and have loved living in this beautiful state. I am currently attending Reynolds High School and can’t wait for graduation in June!!
I have been raised at the same church my whole life. For some that may not be a good thing, but I have gained life long friendships and extended family by experiencing life with my East County community. My relationships are irreplaceable and I’m thankful for the extension of siblings, aunts, uncles and grandparents… it truly takes a village.
Sports have always been a huge part of my life. No, I have never been the best and never had the goal of becoming a D1 athlete (like the majority of my friends) but it helped my competitive spirit and need to be active. I have thoroughly enjoyed the community, friendships, discipline and challenges soccer and track & field have provided for me. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without all my motivating and kind-hearted coaches
Let’s do a bunch of random fun facts about me!!
- I’ve been obsessed with Justin Bieber since like the 4th grade (sorry not sorry).
- I love cheez-itz and mac and cheese…I eat both items probably everyday.
- I’m the oldest in my family, therefore making me the loudest, and most funny (family may say it’s debatable).
- I’ve watched Grey’s Anatomy four times all the way through and I am not ashamed. For awhile, I wanted to become a surgeon because of Grey’s but then I realized that’s A TON of school so I decided I’d be a nurse instead. After some more thought, I decided to sign up for the race and now I just wanna be a freelance hippie and travel everywhere. (That will make my parents proud.)
- During sophomore year, my soccer teammates awarded me “most likely to bring world peace”. I honestly believe that’s what fanned the equality/love activist inside me that had been brewing.
- I love talking about philosophical ideas, learning about other people’s beliefs and lives and just talking about super cool mind blowing ideas..Like dopamine..that’s some crazy stuff we got in us…
I’ve always been very passionate about serving others through missions and it’s clear to me that this is where God wants me to be. I’ve definitely heard God’s voice telling me to just “go”. SO, this brings me to today… The World Race-Gap Year. That’s what I’ll be doing next year instead of heading off to college and I am STOKED. I know God has big things in store for myself and my many teammates. Botswana, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Philippines, and South Africa are where we are headed to live and join God in the work he’s already started..how cool is that? SO COOL and I CAN’T WAIT!
