Today I am only 90 days away from the race.

The race.. something Jesus calls all us to

In 2 Timothy 4:7 He tells us to fight the good fight, keep your faith, and finish the race.

In Hebrews 12:1-2 He tells us to run with endurance the RACE or calling that has been set before us, looking to Jesus through it all.

When people ask me “why?”, or say “I couldn’t do that”, or “are you sure?” I cling to those verses.

Jesus has called us all to something, He has given us all something to do on earth, He has placed something before us that makes our heart beat, a passion. And this is my passion, my calling, my race.

The race… a race I believe is going to be some of the hardest days of my life, days filled with the most joy, the most laughter, the most tears, the scariest, the most sick, the most fun-and adventurous, the most Spirit led days.

BUT I truly believe Jesus Christ is sovereign and He isn’t going to call me to something that He hasn’t already been through, or to something He doesn’t believe I can’t handle.

Im reading a book right now called the quest, and it said

“The miles ahead of you on this excursion will take the shape of curves, straight lines, gaps, and points. Were you to trace those shapes with your finger in order–curve, straight line, gap, point- you’d create a map with pathways carved out of question marks. Thats how you’ll know you’re on the right track. Your journey begins when you stop assuming that questions mean you’re on the wrong track. To make this trip, you will need to be willing at times to face gaps from the teaching edge of what appear to be cliffs, or worse yet, dead ends. You’ll be challenged to embrace the fact that squinting toward indefinable silhouettes on the distant horizon can still qualify as vision through the eyes of faith.”

I believe that through this race I am going to face many questions, doubts, battles,   but thats when ill know I’m on the right track.

I’m in tears as I write this because of the Joy and peace I have.

Listen I KNOW I am going to face so many internal battles, I KNOW I am going to get sick, I KNOW I am going to feel like I can’t do it.

But what I also know is that Jesus Christ is Lord. He is the same yesterday , today and forever. There are people who need to know that, people begging for a change, there are people hurting, who are in poverty, there are people and children that need to feel the love of Jesus.

Jesus is going to protect me, He is going to lead me, and I’m going to be Okay.

I’m going to grow, Im going to have so many new relationships, Im going to get uncomfortable, I’m going to experience so many new things and  I’m going to experience these lyrics first hand

“You call me out upon the waters

The GREAT UNKNOWN where feet may fail

And there I find You in the mystery

In oceans deep

My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name

And keep my eyes above the waves

When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace

For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters

Your sovereign hand

Will be my guide

Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me

You’ve never failed and You won’t start now

So I will call upon Your name

And keep my eyes above the waves

When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace

For I am Yours and You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders

Let me walk upon the waters

Wherever You would call me

Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander

And my faith will be made stronger

In the presence of my Savior”

Jesus calls us to love the poor, the addicts, the prostitutes, the street kids, He calls us to LOVE ALL PEOPLE, to GO out into all the world and proclaim HIS NAME, Jesus calls us to world changers. And that’s what I’m going to do. Bravely, fearfully, creatively, I am going to finish the race that has been set before me, through it all.
