We started our day in prayer. We asked the Lord to show up in mighty ways and didn’t want to put limits on Him. We prayed boldly and confidently knowing that our God is a big God and is capable of so much more than we can ever imagine. We spent time just listening to Him and crying out to Him before we headed to the hospital to visit Esteban’s mom, whose heart wasn’t functioning quite as it should.
The Lord brought the passage Matthew 8:6 to my attention, which speaks about The Faith of the Centurion.
5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6 “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.” Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.” Scripture goes on to say:13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! It will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour.
After reading that passage, I was encouraged and knew God had something amazing planned for that day.
We arrived at the hospital and met Lucy. She was in great spirits and was so excited to see us. As we began to talk with her, Esteban informed us that one of his friends was in the hospital and he wanted to check on him.
Next thing we know Esteban enters the room with Gabriel and tells us that his heart is only functioning at 10% and he doesn’t know if he will make it. He has been waiting for a heart transplant for quite some time and that is his only hope.
At this point Lucy’s roommate overhears us talking and is curious as to what is happening. She moves closer and begins to tell us that she also has a heart problem.
All three of them suffering from heart problems are gathered together and are in need of encouragement.
We knew prayer was what we were being called to do. The three of them sat in the middle of us as we held hands around them and began to pray. We began by praying at the same time. That turned into people crying out and calling on the Father. Then that transitioned into worshiping and singing praises loudly. The presence of the Lord was so profound in that room it was unreal. This went on for over an hour, just surrendering to the Father and asking that His will be done.
We were able to encourage the three of them that morning and speak about where their true hope is found, in the Lord. Although their physical bodies were still in a state of unknown, there was a peace when we left that the Lord was in complete control regardless of the outcome.
After leaving that day we continued praying for them and that the Lords’s will would be done. A week went on and we received a message from Esteban. His friend had received a heart transplant and is now functioning at 100%. The Lord not only provided emotionally healing but He provided physical healing as well.
