My team was walking through the village and passed by a man sitting outside of his house. We continued walking down the dirt road when one of my team mates said “I think the Lord wants us to turn around and talk with him”.

We turned back and met Thomas, an older man sitting in his chair on his stoop who welcomed us into his home.

We sat with him and he began to tell us part of his story. He shared how one of his eyes couldn’t see fully and was in pain. He shared how he loved Jesus and truly believed that He would heal him. He shared how people that live near him came to him for prayer and encouragement. He was a man of peace.

We asked if we could pray with him and he replied with a joyful yes. We gathered around him and lifted him up to the Father. We prayed that His will would be done and that He would be filled up with His love again.

We believed the Lord was calling us to worship with Thomas and began to sing. As we sang, the Lord’s presence was made known. His spirit was moving and hearts were being touched. There was a shift in the atmosphere. We were singing, crying out to the Lord, as Thomas was praying aloud.

Joy came across his face as we finished. We asked him how his eye was and how he was feeling. He said, “I can see a little better.” We asked if we could pray over him again. He said, “of course.” We began praying again. Once again we prayed that God’s will would be done and that Thomas would be filled up with His love again.

We finished praying and asked how he felt and how his eye was. He smiled as he said his eye was better again. He said “I know that the Lord will heal me and that He is good”. He also said “His timing is perfect and I will keep praying to Him”.

We left there and Thomas wasn’t completely healed. As we walked away, we knew that he was full of the Lord and had complete confidence in the Father and in His timing. He didn’t care that he couldn’t see fully, but he loved the Father trusted His plan. The joy of the Lord and the love of the Lord completely covered him and that is all that mattered to Thomas.
