She sat in my lap looking up at me with her big brown eyes. She began to tell me that she doesn’t always get to eat and sometimes they have to skip meals at her house.

I glanced to my left where a table of food for my team was and couldn’t draw myself to fix a plate. How was I supposed to eat when the seven year old little girl sitting in my lap didn’t know if she would get her next meal.

These are the moments that break my heart. These are the moments that the Lord reminds me why He has called me onto the mission field. These are the moments that put life into perspective. These are the moments that are embedded in your mind forever and play on repeat.

I don’t have a solution for what happened right before my eyes that Sunday afternoon. All I could do was hug that little girl a little tighter and pray that the Lord would provide exactly what she needed. Ultimately though I prayed that she would know Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior one day and she would know the immense love He has for her.
