I never thought I would get to serve alongside my parents overseas and definitely not on the World Race but the Lord is good. I got to spend an entire week with them on the field showing them small glimpse into what my life has looked like these past few months. One of my favorite weeks on the Race for sure, especially this day!

We loaded up in the bus which had no air conditioning and headed out to the village one afternoon. We were going to do eye glass ministry which to be honest I wasn’t super excited about.

We arrived at the village and had a quick briefing of what was going to happen throughout the afternoon.

The people would arrive and check in at the registration table. They would get their blood pressure taken and talk with a nurse.

Then they would head to counseling which is where mom, dad, and myself were. We would ask them questions, share stories, share the Gospel, and pray with them.

Then they would get fitted for eyeglasses. When they found the pair that worked they would then read scripture to test out their new glasses.

Then they went to the last table where they received a gift in the form of a new Bible. Not only did they get new glasses to see, they also got a Bible to read with their glasses.

After the briefing I looked around as people started arriving. My dad wasted no time and was quickly serving everyone he came in contact with coffee and water. My mom was escorting people from registration to the counseling area and then to the eye glass fitting area.

One lady in particular stood out though and my mom and I got the chance to pray with her. She was older and was telling me about her life. I shared a story from the Bible with her and then asked if I could pray with her. She said yes and was overwhelmed with emotion after we finished praying.

She was so overcome with gratitude that we had taken the time out of our day to sit down and pray with her. She said no one had every prayed with her before and was so thankful. It only took a few minutes but that one prayer was what she needed.

I am learning that it doesn’t take much. At the end of the day we just need to meet people where they are at, listen to what they have to say, and love them right where they are. I

It might mean one simple prayer could change everything.
