Team: Hazaq
Our team name comes from Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Hazaq is Hebrew and means be strong and courageous.

Ministry for the month: We are partnering with a couple who are missionaries for the IMB and have been living here in Africa for four years. They have created a team that evangelizes to the truck drivers who stop at the port to drop off/pick up goods. This evangelism is not only done here but they have created a network of teams throughout this area. This allows these truck drivers to have multiple encounters with the gospel at their different stops throughout West Africa.

Living Condition: We are staying in a guest house that our ministry host runs. We have beds, running water, western toilets, and showers. We also have trees in our compound to hang our hammocks from and sleep at night to stay a little cooler if we want. We have been so blessed this month and are so thankful!

Food: We are cooking for ourselves this month…time will tell

Local Language: French but there are over 60 languages spoken

Currency: 618 Franc to $1

Climate: We have entered into the heat. It averages about 90 degrees here with a heat index of 106. So much sweat it’s not even funny. I drank four bottles of water this morning and only had to pee once. Sometimes I think it’s raining but then I realize that is just my sweat dripping down my body.

Interesting Fact: Chocolate is the largest export in this country. This country is actually incredibly rich but the wealth discrepancy is so vast that the majority of the people live in severe poverty. This country is predominately Muslim due to the migration from Muslim regions.
