Monday, September 25th on our second adventure day! This day was so incredibly breathtaking from the second I woke up. Every single morning I wake up to the most amazing view I think I’ve seen in my life. The Dominican Republic is so pure and has filled me with so much joy and peace. As I stepped on the bus to head to the beach, I stared out the window most of the ride just in awe of the beauty this country and its people have. Arriving at the beach was just even more amazing. As we rode the speed boats out to the sand bar, then to snorkel, I kept watching each wave pass by. Whenever I think of the ocean, I think about how deep, full, and neverending it is. While I sat in the boat I kept getting three simple words that seemed to make perfect sense. Consistent, peaceful, and infinite. These words kept lingering in my head all day. We got back to Hope Mountain that night and I asked God to tell me what these words meant or why I kept thinking about them. This is what I got…
When I think about infinite I kept thinking about how God’s love is infinitely bigger then the ocean, and the ocean is pretty big. A verse that kept coming to my mind is Ephesians 3:17-18 “So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”
While I was praying about the word consistent I just kept thinking about how each wave in the ocean is so consistent, calming, wonderless, and unique. God’s love for each of us is also so consistent and such a unique love that you can never find from anyone else. Hebrews 13:8 says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Just like the waves, the love God has to offer us will always be the the same no matter what.
Finally, the word peaceful. God’s love for us is so deep and brings us peace in all times. I think God put this word in my head because he knows how much the ocean gives me peace and, like the ocean, his love does the same.
John 16:33 says ”I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble but take heart! I have overcome the world.”
