This past week has been full of all kinds of excitment. We have been doing some amazing work here in Gege, Swaziland. It has been so wonderful to be here and work with the church and care point. But in a matter of one week we were robbed twice.
Last Sunday we came home from church and went on making our lunches and just hanging out. Then we hear Jessica call for Jamie and Kevin. They come back to the rest of us and told us to check our stuff. Jessica’s team money had been stolen. We realized that was the only thing taken. So that was good no one else had money taken, but it was bad that we had been robbed. The police came and took down what happened. They went around to the neighbors and were questioning them if they had seen anything happen here that afternoon. One guy they were questioning confessed to doing it. We got almost all of the money back! Praise God! The guy had climbed through the window in us girls room. Since them we have made sure all of our windows were locked.
So we went on about our week and have had a fantastic week. Saturday was a crazy busy day. We had church in the morning, lunch provided by the church, small groups, baptisms, then another church service. As we were coming back to the house we noticed our window was open. We rushed into our room and saw exactly what we didn’t want to see. All of our belongings were thrown around. I looked in my tent and my phone was gone. I had my purse in my tent right at the door, but by the grace of God they didn’t touch my wallet or tablet. They could have gotten my credit card and money. They had gone through my day pack and had taken almost everything out of it. I went to check on my laptop that was in the living room charging…. It was gone. My hard drive was plugged into it and it was gone also. So all of my electronics except my tablet are gone.
Instantly we all went outside and started prayer walking around our home. We were all frustrated and so confused of why this would happen. In this we lost 4 computers, 1 camera, 1 phone, 3 Ipods, 1 hard drive, and other misc. items. We are praying that the theif is caught and we all get all of our belongings back. It is so hard to be positive in a time like this, but so far everyone has been really positive. We all are confident we will get all of our belongings back.
The only thing that makes me mad about this is I have lost all of my pictures. I have them all backed up on my computer and hard drive. I have some on my phone that I hadn’t put on my computer yet. I also have on my hard drive pictures from years ago, other trips I have taken, and just random ones people have taken of me. I have no way of getting any of them that I have not posted, unless I get my hard drive, computer, and phone back. I also have no way of taking pictures now for the rest of this month and all of next month. It is very frustrating to lose all of that. But I have hope we will get every item back. And every item will be ok, nothing will be broke or wiped clean.
So funny story though that we all laugh about them taking my computer… My computer won’t turn on if it is not plugged in. The battery has gone bad and if it gets unplugged it will shut off in a second. So if they don’t plug it in it won’t work. It really made us all laugh a lot. I wish I could see the faces of the people when they think it is fully charged and unplug it and it shuts off in a second. The thought of that just makes me smile every time.
Now we wait for the police to come tell us they found the theif and they got all of our things back. We haven’t stopped praying for this to happen. We are all trusting God in this, and we know He will provide for us yet again.
