Dear Mom & Dad,

It was amazing getting to spend this past week with you! It is incredible that you flew all the way to Kigali, Rwanda to spend a week at the Parent Vision Trip (PVT) for the World Race. There was no AC, normally no running water, and the food was mostly rice and beans, but you were troopers.

We have been talking about PVT pretty frequently for the past few weeks. All of us had mixed emotions and didn’t really know what to expect. I was very excited to see you both, but it seemed strange to have you brought into this new world of mine. My life is so different here than at home.

When I saw you through the bus window carefully carrying a bag of blue Doritos, I knew it was going to be just fine. We had so much fun! I’m surprised you had room to carry home all the souvenirs we picked out at the market. I hope you enjoyed the adventures of visiting the genocide museum, viewing art at the cultural center, and going on the safari! I’m still surprised that we saw a leopard!

Even more than catching up with each other and getting to explore the city, this week was about kingdom work. I loved getting to see you two at ministry. Dad, it was great seeing you work so hard on building the road in the nearby village. You were always ready to work, and you befriended the local men working beside you. You quickly figured out how to make them laugh even through the language barrier. Mom, I knew that you would be dying to hold all those babies and pinch their chubby cheeks. (That’s something I get from you.) You also had a heart for wanting to give and provide for the families, even if that just looked like giving away cookies. I knew you would give more if you could, and I hope this trip inspires you to live generously even at home.

This trip was a very brief glimpse into my life as a world racer. You got to meet my people who have done life with me for 7 months. You learned the meaning of “hurry up and wait” and that schedules never really work out. You had the privilege of seeing miraculous healings and hearing countless testimonies of God’s goodness. And above all, I hope you grew in your hunger for knowing the Lord. He is doing a great work, both here in Rwanda and in America and everywhere in between. Thanks for devoting this week to visiting me, serving others, and pursing the Lord.

Lots of love,
your baby girl

P.S. We missed you Nolan!
