In just 2 WEEKS I will drive away from Pawleys Island with just a backpack full of stuff, away from friends and family, away from my beloved beach, away from what is familiar.
But I will also drive towards Atlanta, towards my new squad of teammates, towards new countries and new adventures, people around the world who will become friends and family.
I can’t believe it. I have both longed for it to come sooner and been blown away by how fast it has come.
In just 2 weeks I will be reunited with my people of Z squad in Atlanta for a few days of worship and training and then we will board our first plane and head out to Peru!
I am starting to say all my goodbyes, or rather my see you laters, which feels very strange. Lots of mixed emotions as I so quickly approach launch.
There is lots that still needs to be done but yet I feel widely prepared.
There are some things still to be bought, but I have all the essentials.
There are so many goodbyes, but also there are so many people I am looking forward to seeing.
I will miss friends and family here but know that I will find friends and family around the world.
I am nervous and excited.
I feel not ready and yet completely ready.
The in-between, the both-and. It’s an interesting place. I think I would even say a holy place.
I’m not sure I have the words for it all, but I do know I am so thankful! I am thankful for the opportunity to travel the world carrying the name of Jesus. I am thankful for Z squad who I will travel with. I am thankful for technology that will keep me connected to you all back home.
But mostly I am thankful for all of you who have prayed, encouraged, listened, supported and provided. I could not and cannot do it on my own. Thank you all.
Hopefully, there will be a video to come to show you what I am packing and how I am going to pack for a whole year! (let’s see if I can figure out the technology to pull it off)
