Hello everyone! I’ve been in Costa Rica for almost a month now and wanted to share an inside scoop on a day in my life here:
Mondays here are pretty cool. We have what’s called activation and deep clean. In the mornings, we clean the WHOLE house…because when you’re living with 30 plus people, things start getting a little bit funky. We sweep and mop all the floors, organize our food, clean the kitchen from head to toe, fold laundry that’s been hanging out to dry…always done with music blaring! I just love my new home and the people I live with! Also on Mondays, our elders come and teach and then we go out and “activate” on it.
Tuesdays – Fridays we will pretty much have the same routine. I wake up and get out of bed around 6:00am then have a 45 min Devo. I Read my bible and talk to my Heavenly Father. I usually sit on the balcony during this time. I love looking at God’s beautiful creation while diving into His word. Then it’s time for breakfast and everyone runs into the kitchen in a rush to hurry and cook breakfast before it’s time to leave. Every morning we have the same meal for breakfast which I don’t think I could ever get tired of, it’s muy delicioso! It’s called Gallo Pinto which is rice, beans, and eggs. Then we gather our things and head off to ministry.
Tuesdays we hangout and play games with the elderly, teach English, then hang with kids. Tuesday mornings there hasn’t been very many people show up. But God is a very intimate God and is all about the one…
“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shouldersand goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, “Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.”I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. Luke 15:4-7
Wednesday and Thursday mornings we’re at the slums with kids ministry teaching them bible stories, playing games such as pato, pato, ganso (duck, duck goose) and just loving on them. Wednesday and Friday we also work with an organization and do like a VBS where we play with the kids, then have them come in and create some beautiful art work, we sing songs, and teach them about Jesus. We color with them, play hands games, and share lots of sweet hugs!
Friday mornings we work on planning the next months’ bible lessons, crafts and games that go along with them. We will get to walk the kids over the Old and New Testament during the next 2 months which is super exciting. It’s a short time but we’re gonna make it happen! We work with kids from all different kinds of backgrounds. I love just getting to love on them! We don’t know if they get it at home and getting to share the Love of Jesus with them and how much He loves them is such a blessing! I LOVE childrens ministry and I’m thankful that’s where Abba decided to put me for my time in beautiful Costa Rica!
So that’s how ministry life will look for me here. I want to thank EVERYONE that has prayed for myself and my squad, please continue to do so. Also, THANK YOU to everyone that has supported me this far. I’m still not fully funded so please consider helping me reach my remaining funds of $5,376. Thanks for reading! Pura Vida!
