I am working with an organization called Hope Ethiopia. Hope stands for Home Of Purpose, Prayer, Prevision,  and East Africa. Their main mission is to show love/ Christ to orphans and widows.

James 1:27

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

They take in orphans and widows and they live on the compound with me and my team. The widows in exchange for free housing and food take care of the children. Each home has about 3-5 kids living in them. The house moms  are absolutely amazing and do such a good job of taking care of the kids. It’s amazing how much love theses moms have for theses kids that aren’t there own flesh and blood. When we first drove on to the compound all the kids ran up behind the car shouting and screaming. They were so excited to see us and because other teams had been here before and so  they new/ expected that we would love them. Each day I get to love on little kiddo. It’s the highlight of my day. Most of the kids refer to me as makayla not sure why that is my name but either way I love it. I am welcomed by each kid with a tight hug. The culture here is very touchy! You can’t go through a day without being hugged by someone. Before Ethiopia I wasn’t really a fan of physical touch but it’s now something I get excited about. One of my favorite hugs if by one of the lady’s that serve us meals. Her name is Zanet but I refer to her as sister. One day her and me were sitting out side talking about are family’s and she asked me if I had a sister. I then told her that I had the best two little brother who aren’t so little anymore. Then she grabbed me and said “ Yes  you have sister, I’m your sister.” And from then one she has been my family away from home. Even on Christmas she comforted me. I am so blessed to have a sister like her.

Ethiopia has my heart it has been my home away from home. The people, culture, and the over all beauty of the landscape are things I will treasure forever.

P.S. still fundraising! Still have $2,300 left to raise. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. My email is [email protected]
