What Ethiopians eat:

Ethiopians bread is Engera it’s not anything like bread but it is a basic staple for Ethiopians. Engera is bitter and is flat like a pancake. They are made on huge flat tops that are especially designed for making Engera. Ethiopians eat with there hands so instead of silverware they uses the Engera to grab the food.  They also only eat with there left hand. They eat Engera with about every meal. They eat a lot of vegetables and pastas too. But it is prepared differently than you would expect. It looks like hamburger helper most of the time but has a different flavor.

Side note for sickness they make peanut butter and garlic tea. Garlic is also a staple and used in EVERY meal.

Carbs everyday all day is my lifestyle in Ethiopia and I really cant say I’m not liking it. I love bread! And this totally beats the blotting I was experiencing in Cambodia from the side affects of the rice and parasites I had all three months in Cambodia.

What we eat:

Breakfast is either peanut butter jelly sandwiches, pancakes, fried toast (literally fried bread with garlic), or omelet.

Lunch is either salad with garlic dressing, mustard sauce, with either rice or plain spaghetti noodles. French fries with avocado salad. Spaghetti casserole… (eggs, spaghetti, tomato sauce, oil, garlic, little cheese on top, and in circular pan). Macaroni noodles with cow meat, green beans, carrots, tomatoes.

Dinner- vegetable soup, spaghetti, stir fry, pizza with tuna and vegetables, and tuna rice.
