What's The World Race all about?
That video is a quick way to learn what some of it is about… thats not what its ALL about but I have yet to learn that myself.
I plan to do that over the 11 months I will be traveling to 11 countries with a tent and a backpack. Sounds scary right?? I thought that too at first, but I have a feeling its going to be like when you get on a roller coaster for the first time in a while and as your climbing up the biggest hill for that first drop you are like WHY DID I EVER GET ON THIS? but of course theres no turning back now so you drop down that hill and by the time you get off the ride you want to do it again! I think I am still climbing that hill now, theres days I am so excited and can't wait to leave but then theres days that I am like man, that's 11 months aways from my entire life; my family, friends, dogs, job, cellphone, makeup, WARM SHOWERS, and toilet paper. What have I gotten myself into?? I know this is what I am supposed to do next in my life and I am more than excited to see where it takes me and I am sure when I am done I will want to do it again! =)
**In order for me to go on this trip I have to raise $15,500, it seems like a lot of money but when you think about it, It makes sense.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
2% for Training Camp
4% for Field Support (our squad leaders, coaches, and debrief stuff)
12% goes to the World Race development program
17% Goes to all the Administration fees that we require, all our travel, logistics, lodging…
65% goes directly to the Racer, to meet their immediate needs
-Here's that breakdown of that 65%
$4,235 for our intercontinental travel for the year(Plane, Boat, Bus, Elephant, <-just kidding)
$460 per month, broken down as:
$3.75/day for food
$5.25/day for lodging
$3.00/day for transport
$3.33/day for long distance travel (buses, trains) and miscellaneous stuff like translators, toilet paper, and the like.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We do have some deadlines as to how much we have to have raised before we leave for the trip as well as during the trip.
-$3,500- Due 10/1/2011 (2 weeks before Training Camp)
-$6,500- Due 12/18/2011 (2 weeks prior my trip)
-$11,000- Due 4/1/2011 (End of 3 months on the field)
-$15,500- Due 7/1/2011 (End of 6 months on the field)
