Another thing we did at training camp is what AIM calls ATL or Ask the Lord. We broke up into our newly formed teams (team Hinds’ Feet!!), and we asked for God to lead us for the afternoon. After discussing the things that we felt God putting on our hearts we decided that we were going to downtown Atlanta. We joined forces with another team to get everyone where they needed to go, so we got on a train into downtown. As we walked around we kept our hearts and mind open to what God had for us. We stopped in Olympic Park under the quilt of nations, and we prayed for the counties of the flags above us. We spoke with a few people who were around, and we started looking for what to do next.
We started to follow arrows. As they led us up a street we started to hear music. The music was getting louder and louder, and we had to see where it was coming from. We finally reached a parade. We asked around and found out that it was a parade for the Caribbean festival. We started walking along side it and praying for the people around us, and praying for what God would have us do. We felt like we needed to stay where we were, and our team broke up and mixed in with the crowd and talked to people and prayed for them. My teammate Christy and I turned toward he parade and the group coming up made my jaw drop… Haiti! The first stop on our trip was now dancing and waving flags right in front of us!! Now with a permasmile pasted on my face we talked to people around us, prayed for Haiti, and the people we met, and met back up with our team. As I heard my teammates stories I was amazed!! They are crazy awesome and I can’t wait to see what they will do this next year!! We got back on the train and headed outside the city to where we were being picked up. While we were waiting a group of young people came over to ask us if we knew where the Caribbean Festival was, we gave them directions, and felt encouraged that God was affirming that we had been in the right place all afternoon. What an exciting first day of Ministry for team Hinds’ Feet!!
