One of my team’s projects this week was to shovel thru a
huge pile of dirt and rocks and whatever other junk happened to get in there.
We would shovel a scoop onto this sifter and separate the rocks from the good
dirt that was in it. We would sometimes come across sticks, trash, and even
shards of glass. Over the course of the day, thru hours of shoveling,
consolidating, and pulling out those things that didn’t belong in the dirt, we were
able to completely clean the area that was once covered with a mess.

After we finished I laid down in my tent to rest and God
spoke to me. He said, the job isn’t done yet. There is still sifting to do. And
I’m like what? God did you not see the patio area? It’s clean and the fresh
soil was separated and cleaned of the rocks and junk. And He said it again, ”
the job isn’t yet finished.”  I sat
on it for a minute and gained some clarity.

You see, my team and I have this project before us. It
consists of digging into the depths of each other’s hearts and sifting out what
doesn’t belong. WE are put together this year each with our own shovels and
each of us with our own piles of dirt mixed with the crap we have allowed to
fill our hearts that has brought us hurts, pains, fears, and scars. WE are
responsible for listening the Lord and cleaning out the pile of crap out of our
hearts so Christ can fully saturated all of our being. But we have to sift out
the things that don’t belong. We have to help each other see those things that
don’t fit with the fresh soil.

The job isn’t done, but we are diligently working.
