Mozambique update

Location: Chibuto, Mozambique

Ministry Contact: Africa on Fire. They are a ministry focused on church planting and orphanage work. They are building a self-sustaining, 216 bed orphanage with a school and clinic on site.

Types of Ministry: We are clearing land for an orphanage home to be built, so we have been cutting down trees this week. Our first week here we went throughout local villages to pray over people.

Language: Portuguese

Weather: It is refreshing here during the day—reminds me of Jamaica so I’m happy! It gets warm during the day, but gets cold at night.

Wifi: We have a solar charger on property, so one person can charge at a time. We use a wifi stick that plugs into the computer for administrative things.

Sleeping:  First month of tenting, which is kinda nice! It feels like I have my own room (it’s the little things)

Showers: Bucket showers this month. I think I’ve finally learned how to do it the best way, or as good as I’m going to get..

Toilets: 4 toilets, but no running water. We have to pour more water in the bowl to flush anything—to behind the bathroom.

Typical food: A lot of rice and greens for most meals. We have had fish a few times so it’s great to get some meat (a luxury here). We asked our pastor what he likes to do for fun. His answer? “I like to eat meat”. We also have a roll of bread for breakfast everyday, which is custom here.

Adventure days: We are forfeiting our adventure days throughout the month in order to take a trip to Kruger National Park for a safari! Pray it works out for us!
