Proverbs 11:2: When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.
So, as you all know, it is a new year!! Yay for 2012 🙂 Most people like to do New Year resolutions and this year I have decided to do two; one of which is to read one chapter of Proverbs a day. This morning I read chapter 11 and this verse hit me right where I needed it to. God has a tendency to do that. Recently, He has been showing me how proud I am. I have never really thought of myself as a prideful person, but I sure am. I have realized that it is so easy to become prideful about the things that I am doing this year. Especially with people saying things like, “you are such an inspiration”. “God is using you in such big ways.” “It is so awesome to see how surrendered you are.” Sometimes I even think in my own head, “Look at all the ‘good’ things that I am doing. I am just awesome.” It is quite comical actually because the truth is that there is nothing good in me except for Christ. Knowing that God takes pride very seriously (I mean that is why Satan got kicked out of heaven… right?!?) I have been thinking about a way to keep pride out and let the humbleness flow in. I believe one of the biggest ways that I can do that is to have a heart attitude of thankfulness. God is so BIG on thankfulness. I want to make sure that my heart is always in the right place, especially when doing ministry because I want people to see Christ and not Kayla. Just a little part of my study time this morning and thought I would share with you guys. I love you all so much and I am truly blessed to have you all in my life <3
Know that the LORD, He is God! It is He who made us and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name.
For the LORD is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations. Psalms 100:3-5
