These past couple of days, my team and I, have been traveling. (5 days total and 61 hours on several different buses). In between the bus rides we had hours to sit around, get to know each other better, read, eat, pray, and all other types of things..  One of the days (when we crossed the boarder from Ecuador to Peru) we had the joy to meet up with our whole squad. We spent the day walking around the small town and catching up with each other, discussing our ministries from last month and encouraging each other. Linsey (one of my teammates) and I went to check out a little ice cream store and when we were walking out we ran into some of our squad mates who were about to pray for someone; so we jumped right in. Victoria is a much older lady and she usually spends her day sitting on the street with a cup in her hand, asking for money, hoping that she will receive enough so that she can have the surgery that she needs to remove her tumor. She also seemed to have a very severe case of scoliosis and she complained of pain all over her body. Josh, one of the Spanish speakers on our squad, began to pray for her, as we all laid hands on her and her family. The more Josh prayed the more that people began to press in to get a glimpse of what was going on. When I opened my eyes and looked around, I thought of the book of Mark in chapter 5.; which tells the story of a lady who heard Jesus was in town and she found the crowd (where Jesus was).. what did she do? She began to press in to get closer to Jesus. She believed so much that if she could only touch Him that she would be healed… and  that is exactly what happened.. she was healed!! So in the moment, I was praying for Victoria and watching the people begin to press in.. The only thing that I could think is “This is the perfect time to preach the gospel. I mean everyone was paying attention and so interested in what was going on.” I began to pray that their hearts would be open to God and to His son and while I was praying Josh stood up and started sharing the gospel.. It was beautiful!! My heart was so filled with joy! I felt like I was living in the book of Mark and in that moment I was reminded that this is exactly where God wants me to be… Here, in Peru, loving Him and loving His people!  I was also reminded of my need to constantly press into God and what He is doing. That I cannot doing anything ,with eternal purpose, on my own.. I need Him and my relationship with Him will only grow if I am constantly pressing into Him, and His story.
