Can you define ministry??
I can, only because I looked it up… Ministry is the act of serving.
That’s it.. its that simple.. I don’t know about you but sometimes I make things much more complicated that I should. Sometimes when I “go to” ministry I feel like I have to put on a face or be this super energetic, supernaturally loving, crazy, fun, amazing person that I will never be able to achieve. As you can imagine 10 months of this can make become very draining and make someone very tired.. When I look into the scriptures I learn things that Jesus came to serve, not to be served. I learn that He loves because He is love. I also learn that He says that I have to abide in His love and when I try to do things on my own, without him, it means nothing. So, I have decided to not overcomplicate, to be simple, and to simply believe in Him and in His power.
I am going to be me and I am going to pray for His love to shine through me and His gentleness and wisdom to ooze out of me.
How am I going to achieve this?
Its simple, I am choosing to ABIDE in HIM everyday, everywhere that I go.
Which means that I will no longer be “going to” ministry, as to not complicate things. My ministry will be wherever I am. If I am with my team, they will be my ministry, if I am having alone time then I will be my ministry, if I am at an orphange in Cambodia then the beautiful kids that God has allowed me to spend time with will be the ones that I pour into. But I am done TRYING so hard.. I am going to ABIDE and LOVE.. I am simply going to GIVE what He gives to me. So I no longer have ministry.. I have lifeistry.. This is not something that I am only going to practice a few hours out of the day, while I in a certain location that we like to call our “ministry” for the month.. No.. I will do this everywhere. ABIDE.. I am excited.. Its going to be awesome!!!
Thank you Lord for allowing us to abide in You. For giving us everything that we need to live a life crazily in love with You. Thank you for creating us to be individuals and thank you for allowing us to be a part of Your big story! You are a good God. Your love endures forever, we could never talk about it to much, and we could never describe the length or depth of it. I love You and I am so excited about all that You are doing throughout this world <3 Amen.
This month we are working with Cambodian Hope Association (an orphanage). It is absolutely amazing! The kids are beautiful and our contact is such a sweet man, full of joy! Here are some pictures..
