Last night some of the girls on my team and I decided that we were going to go out for dinner. We went to one of our favorites here, The Red Piano. So, we walk in and glance around, trying to find a table close to an outlet so that we can updates our blogs and things of that nature. There it is! We find a table that has an outlet! There happens to be a man already sitting at this table, but hey, this is the world race and why we let a man get in between us and our internet connection?? So we walk over, introduce ourselves, and sit down. Adam… Adam is his name and he is from Australia, we end up eating our meal with him and our discussion varied from topics such as traveling, shopping, the movie “Catch Me if You Can”, poverty in the world, religion, brother and sister relationships, and all kinds of good stuff. When one is a world racer, one tends to get asked the questions, “Where are you from and what are you doing here?” a lot. Which is great because it opens up the conversation to lead to the gospel and to hear their stories. When we asked Adam what he believes in he told us that he’s not really into all of that but that he thinks Buddhism is really cool. When we asked him why he simply stated, “Buddhist are hard working people, very kind, very giving.” Which of course made me intrigued as to what his opinion of Christians was, so I asked him, “Adam, what do you think about Christians, and be honest!” His answer both saddened me and motivated me.. It took him about 30 seconds to speak and he said, “I don’t really know, most of the Christians that I know keep to themselves, and hang out with each other.”
This leads me into the portion of my blog that I like to title “Do something with your Faith!!!” I am talking both to myself and others. I listened to a podcast the other day by Francis Chan on loving God and loving people. Mr. Chan points out the fact that throughout Christian history we have had some kind of fault or wrong doing in every era. Like the “indulgences” when we made people pay for forgiveness, or when we fought FOR slavery. He then asks the question, “Years from now what will people be saying about the believers of 2012? What is our wrong doing?” To which he points out the fact that Christians today are the richest they have ever been, we can travel more effectively, and have the most information available to us. Mr. Chan then says that we would probably be known for the generation that ‘does nothing with their beliefs’. He also talks about discipleship and evangelism. He says that if you are a Christian and have never told anyone about Christ or have never/are not currently making disciples then there is something wrong. This was both eye opening and motivating to me and after being confirmed through Adam’s view of Christians I decided to “do something” about it and write this blog. I told Adam, “Thank you so much for your view of Christians, I appreciate and understand your opinion. This is motivating to me and a confirmation of what I am doing this year. Jesus commands us to go out into the nations and make disciples.”
My prayer is that this blog is an encouragement to the readers and that we will become more outward with our beliefs and faith in the One who breathed life into us! The reality of Christ and what He has done on the cross is bigger and better than anything that we can ever comprehend and we owe it to Him and others to live a lifestyle that says exactly that. So, I don’t know about you, but I am tired of settling, tired of being silent, tired of sitting still and on the sidelines. I want to proclaim Christ, and glorify my Maker with the precious life that He has given to me for this time. I want to make disciples and spread His love to the remotest parts of the world. Lets DO something!!!
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe al that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-10

Adam 🙂
