As I was going through old documents on my computer, I came across this little gem. I wrote it in middle school and thought that it fit for today and the season we are in.
A NEW SEASON
Early in the morning the cool winds blow harshly
The leaves whisper amongst each other in the breeze
Birds sing their happy songs while they gather food
Squirrels bark and chat to one another while finding winter nuts
A hint of hickory burning in fireplaces fills the air
The sound and smell of trees being cut down
As everybody gets ready for the cold times to come
All the freezers have already been stocked with fresh meat
The leaves high in the trees bloom into red, orange & gold
Begin falling down off their thrown creating a blanket below
The wind’s crisp smell gently fills your lungs
As you look at all the splendor and beauty
The cool gray sky hints of snow in the air
The thought of spring seems far away
As the cold, short days slowly settle in
You know that the season has changed
I hope that this little note is a reminder to not forget to enjoy God’s Creation. It is easy to allow our busy lives to sweep us off our feet and keep us from enjoying what is around us. But there is so much beauty to see if you are willing to take the time to enjoy it.
