A few nights ago Katherine and I were walking along the waterfront in search of some cheap street food for dinner. Along the way, I couldn’t resist stopping to take this photo. The ocean plus the start of sunset was just too good to pass up!

As I finished snapping a few pictures, I noticed a man looking over my shoulder. He was admiring the shots I was getting, but at the same time admiring the view itself.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” he asked me.

“It is,” I replied. “Doesn’t it make you wonder Who created it all?”

He paused for a while before answering the question, standing there with his hands in his pockets, looking out over the water.

“It does,” he answered softly.

He had this look in his eyes like it was all really hitting him for the first time. I’m sure he had pondered creation before, but there seemed to be something special about this particular moment for him.

This brief exchange ended up sparking an amazing conversation! We began by talking about how everything in the world is created. From the shirt he was wearing to the concrete post I was leaning on—every physical thing we see in this world has a creator behind it. Why would it be any different with the sky, the mountains, and the waves? Logically, they too have a Creator.

This opened up an opportunity to talk about God as our Creator, and the love He has shown us all through the person of Jesus Christ.

“For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”

Romans 1:19-20 ESV

I’d love to tell you He accepted the Gospel as truth that night, but he didn’t.

Not yet.

But the gears are turning! Somewhere in Malaysia, there’s a man from India named Kallah who has clearly seen the Lord through the beauty of creation, and has heard about the love that Christ has for him. And that’s a start!

Please keep Kallah in your prayers. A seed was definitely planted in his heart and he is starting to ask the right questions about who God is and what implications that has for his life. Malaysia is predominately Muslim as a nation, but many different ethnic groups are found here, along with a plethora of religious beliefs and worldviews. It’s not easy for people to see Jesus as the only way, so please join us in praying for the love of Christ to be clearly communicated and accepted among the many different people here in Malaysia.

As always, thanks for reading the blog and staying updated on what’s going on in our world! We crave your prayers and support as we finish up these last two months on the field. We cannot say thank you enough to those of you who have consistently and faithfully prayed for us, and for those of you who have also supported us financially.

We still have $1,013 left to raise before ending our time on the field. We would love it if you would prayerfully consider supporting us financially as we work to raise this final portion of support. Thank you so much for your continued love and support!
