My Christmas as most know, was spent in Malaysia this year. A place where Christmas doesn’t have as much hype as it does in America. I found myself in a sea of sadness, because I couldn’t be home for Christmas with my family and friends, because I wasn’t going to the Christmas Eve service, because it feels like 100 degrees outside and because I wasn’t able to celebrate with the same traditions I have in the past.

Christmas 2015 is quickly coming to an end, as it is currently 11:50PM. As I’m looking back at my day, I remember that on Christmas Eve my team went and drank coffee and listened to Christmas carolers, Christmas morning I went to a Christmas play that consisted of the Avengers talking about salvation but it didn’t really have much to do with Christmas. We even opened presents and had dinner together, but I was shocked at what I didn’t do. This Christmas to my surprise I managed to not think for a single moment about what Christmas really means to me. I’m upset that it seemed to slip my mind to remember the reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place, but I’m not going to dread on what has already happened.

I guess I just am writing this quick blog as a reminder to you and myself as well.
Please don’t pass this day and season away without remembering the reason we celebrate it in the first place. Take some time to ask yourself, “what does Christmas mean to me”. Remember what our Lord and Savior did for us. Go and read the Christmas story (Luke 2, Matthew 1:18-25, Isaiah 7:14, 9:6 etc..).
Our Father sent His Son. He did this because He loves all of us, because He wants us to have the ultimate gift: the gift of eternal life. It’s the only gift that keeps on giving. That is why today, we give.

Enjoy time with your family for both you and me, but please take time with your heavenly father. Thank him, worship him, praise him, for today our King is born! Immanuel: God is with us—God came to us.

Merry Christmas from me and my team, the Gems! God bless you
