Over the last 9 months I have been poured into by friends, squad mates, leaders, preachers, churches, podcasts, sermons, books, strangers on the street, the Word of God, and most importantly the Holy Spirit.
I am extremely blessed to have the opportunity to travel the world answering the call of The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19) on my life. This blog is an accumulation of thoughts, prayers, and messages formulated from pursuing the Lord and soaking up all He had to share with me through the vessels mentioned above.
Enjoy!
There are two types of love:
(1) Where they love what you do for them
(2) Where they love you unconditionally
Jesus loves us unconditionally!
Just because something is hard or scary doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it, especially if it’s something you believe in.
We’ve all had failures in our life. The key is not to let them define you. Instead, let them refine you.
We must remember who the real enemy is. We must see and treat everyone the same because we are all created equal. We are all recipients of God’s grace and love.
Chose peace over making a point. You can agree to disagree and love can still win!
Be more gracious than you, yourself deserve. Treat people better than they deserve. The actions of one do not reflect the heart of all. The loving thing is always the right thing, so pray your way through it.
Failure is the opportunity for success. Gather up all of your failures and bring it to Jesus.
Don’t let your success go to your head and don’t let your failures go to your heart.
The things we want often come through the things we don’t. This is how God uses imperfect people to achieve his perfect plan!
Who are you to withhold forgiveness when so much forgiveness has given to you a multitude of times.
There are few things in life more beautiful than a family who has loved each other through the crazy. Is it easy, no. Is it worth it, yes!
The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule but to schedule your priorities !!
You only have so many yes’s to go around. Chose your yes’s wisely!!!
Worry is a time sucker!
3 questions:
Why am I busy, really?
What am I busy with, really?
Is it worth it, really?
At the beginning of your life, all you have is family. At the end of your life, all you have is family. Do not lose each other in the middle of the craziness of life!
Jesus doesn’t love you because you’re good, He loves you because he’s good
Jesus will always meet you where you are!
God is constant even though I am not. God doesn’t wait on us to come back. He finds us where we are.
You are one step away from surrender!
When someone is on the path to Jesus make sure people don’t trip over you!
Our struggle is not of flesh and blood, it is the battle of Darkness.
Jesus didn’t say if you are going follow me just love yourself or just be good to yourself. He said it’s not about you. Shoulder your own cross and serve others. That’s why it’s so hard for us. We are taught by the world to love ourselves but Jesus teaches us to be SELFLESS!!!
“MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU, FOR MY POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS!” Weakness is not a handicap because it opens you up with to experience God’s grace!!!
When I realize how weak I am that’s when I discover God’s strength through me and in me!!!! God will bring us to our greatest weaknesses because that is when we realize how much we need Him! We are not entitled, we are in NEED! Regardless of what has happened to me and regardless of what I have accomplished I am desperately in need of God to give me strength in my life.
Entitlement is a false display of strength!
When you confront your weakness, you grow in your love for Him, not in your love for yourself! It’s a relationship of dependence.
Truths:
1st Truth: All people have knowledge of God the Father. Regardless of where or how people live, everyone has this in common because God has has revealed Himself to them. Now, not all people believe in God which leads to the 2nd truth…
2nd Truth: All people reject God. Paul said although they knew God they neither glorified Him as God or rejected Him. We have foolish hearts and sinful minds. We easily forget about the distortion that plagues our minds and the idolatry that plagues our hearts because of sins…
3rd Truth: All people are guilty before God. Romans Ch 1:18 and Ch 2:16 – There is no one righteous, not even one. Every mouth is silent and all are held accountable before God.
4th Truth: What happens to the innocent man in the middle of Africa who dies never knowing the gospel… the innocent guy will go to heaven because if he is truly innocent he has no need for a savior. As a result he doesn’t need the gospel. The thing is, the innocent guy doesn’t exist. There are no innocent people in the world waiting to hear the gospel…
5th Truth: All people are condemned for rejecting God. Not so no one is everyone guilty before God. There is nothing we can do to change this. The more we try to do good the more we expose our evil. As a result we all stand condemned before God. This leads us to a fundamental misunderstanding, that is people do not hear about God are automatically excluded from…
God is steadfast even when we are unsteady.
Nehemiah 9:31b “You are gracious and merciful God! O God, our God, how great you are!”
Just as the people of Israel, we keep on doing wrong, making God mad, repenting, over and over again. And because our Heavenly Father is always loving and merciful, He keeps on forgiving us. That’s just how amazing He is to us. Now, realizing that, we have to do our best not to act that foolishly again, while knowing that in our imperfections, God’s grace and mercy will hold us and pursue us forever.
“My heart breaks for these people and so yours will too! Feel their pain, feel their sadness, feel their loss. Weep with them. Bear their burdens and then lay it all at my feet. Don’t continue to carry it, that’s my job! You are a vessel. I use you to bring things to me for them when they can’t.” – God
Why do I feel so weak right now Jesus? Is it because I am far from you? “No. Your spirit is strong, your flesh is just weak. I needed to make your spirit strong before I could make your flesh strong. I am disciplining you! I am equipping you through revealing your weaknesses. Your strength comes from the Father not from the flesh. When you fully grasp how powerful the father is, how your strength comes from him, then your flesh can become strong.” – God
“I don’t like watching you struggle but it is necessary for you to be complete lacking nothing. Give me your struggles. Give me your weaknesses. Lay them at my feet. Let my spirit fuel you and drive you when you feel you can no longer go on. Believe me sweet girl. You are capable of so much more than you can possibly fathom. Rest in that! Rest in knowing that I have it all figured out! I will protect you. I will provide for you!” – God
Today I chose love instead of hate, forgiveness instead of bitterness, peace instead of chaos, trust instead of doubt. Today I chose to rely on the Father as I am pruned. I am a rose bush and by grabbing the dead roses the father is pruning I am being pricked by their thorns. Today I chose the Father’s will over my own. Today I chose to move forward! Today I chose freedom!
What God taught me today; while reading Perfect Match I wanted to stop half way through because I felt like I had the book figured out. I actually started reading another book and finished that book before picking back up Jodi Picoult’s book again. It turns out the book went way different than I ever expected even up to the very last page. How often do we stop half way through because we think we have it all figured out even though in reality God is in control up to our very last page?
To much is given, much more is required. Sometimes we pray dangerous prayers!
We are supposed to count the cost, not negotiate the price! Some of us have to move into “nevertheless at your word.” People say that’s not common. I say my Gods not common!
God’s just as powerful in the whisper as he is in the earthquake!
When you go deeper with God you can’t go back to what satisfied you before. We must keep breathing. We can’t hold our breathe. We have to keep breathing in order to survive. We are required to chose to breathe in the Father daily
The Word is supposed to be a daily bread not a weekly loaf!
We pray prayers like “mold me, shape me, make me” and then we don’t want to live it out!
God will never bring anything into your life to destroy you. He will however, bring things into your life to develop you!
I’m moving forward. I no longer deal with the rubbish I dealt with before. I haven’t changed. The atmosphere I am walking into is simply stronger and lighter! “Cast all our care upon him” God wants us to carry his burden, his yolk, his authority. Our shoulders weren’t meant to carry our own burdens, his were built to carry ours.
I must be lesser, he must become greater. I need to get out of the way so people can see more and more of him! Let Jesus Christ rise up out of me!
Each day we wake up God’s not done with us yet!
In the silence, I have found love. I have found love, and peace, and stillness, and gratitude. I used to overwork to feel important. What I am learning now is that feeling important to someone else isn’t valuable to me the way I thought it was. Instead of hiding in busyness and codependence and pretending that everything is okay, when I live in silence, it makes me brave. I feel uninsulated, unarmed, and it makes me feel bold. Because for the first time in a long time, I’m listening to my own voice and desires; I’m articulating my own vision for my life.
If you are serving others and not yourself, it’s Ministry
Doing “Ask The Lord” Ministry you have freedom. This freedom forces you to be completely dependent on the Holy Spirit. It forces you to be interruptible and listen to where God wants you to go.
When you are assigned Ministry you are moved into the service role. It forces you to see the works through God’s eyes and to have God’s heart. You are called to walk along side and support those God has called long term in specific ministry areas.
There is growth to be had in both aspects
Seasons come to an end. We don’t know when it will come to an end. We have to grieve it, that is the natural order of things.
God didn’t send our team to Bali for the sand and beaches. He sent us to Bali to be a reflection of him. To walk the streets of Depensar and fill them with the Holy Spirit. He called us to makes disciples and this week I know in my heart God Magnolias will do just that!
Servant leadership is leadership. Christ lowered himself to serve others. Our job as servant leaders is to lead in way that Christ calls us to by bringing healing, light and life to those we are leading. Western leadership is a very self focused style of leadership. In the Kingdom there is only one true leader. We are just doing what he is calling us to do. We all serve as support because he is the center.
You do not have intimacy if you don’t have trust. One mistake we make is that intimacy comes from an accumulation of facts. When biblical knowledge replaces trust we have pride.
We cannot give away what we do not have. Thus, discipleship demands that we be lifelong learners that are committed to continual spiritual growth. We are called to journey in community in order to grow in deeper intimacy with God. We are instructed to encourage, challenge and help others and they are called to the same. If we wait until our personal issues are fixed before helping others, we will never get there. Our personal sanctification happens as we minister to others!
God’s is leading guiding and directing us. The spirit of God is changing our perspectives and even our personalities. Times are tough right now. Joy is coming. When Jesus becomes the center; ministry becomes a joy, ministry becomes a success, ministry becomes your favorite part of your day. Shouldn’t you enjoy Ministry? Shouldn’t you ride on the wave? Shouldn’t you celebrate Ministry? When we are moving in the spirit, serving in the spirit, we will truly enjoy Ministry. We must be willing to break our culture and break our tradition in Jesus name. The spirit of God says who cares what tradition says, who cares what culture says – which is more important- keeping your tradition or winning souls. The success in Ministry is brought about by the success of the spontaneous leading and guiding of God in our lives!!!!! Obedience is letting the spirit of God to take charge!
