Hey everyone!
My name is Kayce Clodfelter and I have recently been accepted to go on the World Race in January of 2017. I want to start this journey by telling you a few things about myself.
I am 27 years old living in Winston Salem, North Carolina. I have been working as an insurance representative with Rick Babusiak State Farm since August, 2011. I love my job! Each day I get to go into work and help my clients manage the risk of everyday life and realize their dreams. Besides the day to day activity my favorite part of working with the Babusiak Agency is that Rick and Candice support my mission work 110%. While working for them I have had the opportunity to go on 7 mission trips. 4 building mission trips to Western North Carolina, 2 mission trips to Honduras centered around orphanage ministry and a 10-day mission trip to Salerno, Italy to help plant a church and run a Vacation Bible School program. Rick and his agency are now supporting the largest mission trip I have ever had the opportunity to participate in.
Family has always been the most important thing in my life. Besides my relationship with God it is the one aspect that is always constant. I am a daddy’s girl and my mom is hands down my best friend. Me and my brother were inseparable growing up. We have a saying – “it’s a brother and a sister kind of thing.” Growing up my parents always put a big emphasis on spending time with family. Our family vacations were never huge or extravagant. We would always go on a trip where we could be together and outdoors such as the beach or the lake. As we got older we would take family backpacking trips where all we had was what we carried on our backs for the weekend. We are a family of traditions. Even though me and my brother have gotten older we still carry out those same traditions during birthdays, holidays and monthly meals together. I am so grateful that my parents taught me the value of family growing up.
I grew up in the Methodist church. I attended Sunday School and church every Sunday that we were home. But it wasn’t until I began visiting other churches with friends in early high school that I began to really comprehend God’s love and the purpose of Jesus dying on the cross for my salvation. When I was 16 I began attending a Pentecostal church. It was at this church that God really began to work on my heart. It was because of this church I truly accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior. It was at the Pentecostal church where I experienced the Holy Spirit for the first time! It was a day I will never forget. It was an amazing experience and one that I can barely put into words. I was in awe that a God so big could love me enough to send His one and only Son to die on the cross for my sins. My spiritual journey has been nothing short of amazing ever since then.
I graduated from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!) with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. During my college years I was blessed with the opportunity to help out with the youth program at my home church, Mt Olivet United Methodist Church. After I graduated I took over as the Youth Director for the middle and high school youth. I remember driving to my first meeting… I was stopped at the stoplight where Old US Hwy 52 and Hickory Tree Rd meet… I looked up at the sky and said “God, I don’t know if I am capable to lead these kids – what do I have to teach them?” Well, the first youth meeting of the year went off without a hitch and 5 years filled with movie nights, super bowl parties, ski trips, Monday morning prayer breakfasts, lock-ins and 5 missions trips later and those youth are like my second family. Most of them have graduated and have went on to a secondary form of education. The youth program grew so large that the church was blessed to be able to add someone on for a paid position!! God is SO good!
I attend The Summit Church in Kernersville, North Carolina. Recently the sermons have laid hard on my heart to step out of my comfort zone and spread God’s love among the nations. God planted the seed years ago that he wanted to me to do mission work, both here and abroad. Recently He has ignited my passion into a fire I can no longer ignore. I practically jumped out of my skin the day I got the call I was accepted to the World Race. I have prayed over this decision for months and although there are plenty of unknown factors I know this is exactly where God wants me to be. Just as Jesus says in Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” I’m ready to make disciples of all the nations. I don’t know what the next year in ministry will look like but I know it is going to be absolutely amazing! I can’t wait to see how God is going to use me as his hands and feet. Most importantly, I can’t wait to share this journey with each of you.
