“Wait, this isn’t the Amazing Race?!”

No. Nope, it isn’t. Sorry for y’all who got really excited, and I just crushed your dreams.

If you know me, you know that I don’t really race anywhere. I actually move quite slowly through life, quietly listening and gently stepping through seasons.

And yet, here I am.

This is my amazing race for the next 11 months. But the real adventure isn’t the World Race. It is each day that I get to live for the Lord, each day that I get to love fully from who I am in Christ, each day that I get to see the big smiles of little children and know that hope exists around the world in a fullness that I never knew before. This is bigger than the World Race.

On this blog, I’ll post snippets of my life for the next 11 months. These are windows for you to peak through. I hope they are an encouragement for your soul, hope for your heart, and light on the dark days, which no matter where you are in the world, can be many.

It has always been a dream of mine to share my stories and poems with others. So, here we go:

Welcome.

You are seen.

You are known.

You are loved,

by the God who created

volcanoes and plantain chips

and the brightly painted

houses on the streets of

Granada.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am to be here. To pray alongside the Nicaraguan people. To read Spanish with the little kiddos at the little turquoise library in the mornings. And to be looking forward to seeing what God has for us next.
