Dear Friends and Family,
I am writing to you to let you in on my “newest adventure”. As most of you already know I have recently moved back to the Midwest. I must admit, a few years ago when I moved to the west coast returning to my “roots” was the last thing on my mind. The last three years for me have been quite the adventure and have opened my eyes and my heart to possibilities that I never imagined. My time in California placed me with a family that has become my own. I took a full time live-in nanny position . The family that I have been living with and working for have 12 children, 9 of which still live at home. Most of the children came from abuse and neglect and several have special needs. Through them and with them I have learned much, not only about myself but about empathy, compassion, kindness, patience, and most important the love of God.
At a very young age I knew that I wanted to make a difference in the world. I wasn’t quite sure and to be honest I still am not completely sure as to “how”. Living day to day with some of Gods most fragile children, celebrating their achievements as simple as they are at times, has softened my heart and given me the courage to go and share the love of God with those that have been victims to what I consider to be the most heinous crime of all “ Human Trafficking”.
When my California family moved back to the Midwest, by choice I moved with them. I joined a church and had the opportunity to hear Christine Kane, a woman who has taken up this cause and she set my heart on fire. I began to reflect and ask God for direction as to fill this calling he was placing on me. I then found The World Race- Human Trafficking Route. On The World Race, my team and I will travel to India, Thailand, Cambodia, as well as the United States to fight modern-day slavery. Not only will we be building relationships, educating, and offering ways out for those trapped in slavery, we will also be raising awareness and working with local ministries to prevent future generations from being slaves themselves.
I am trusting God, and know that it is He who has placed this on my heart and that provision will be made to allow me this opportunity. And yes, this is where I need your help. In today's economy I know that many of us are stretched. I humbly ask that you consider, if it is within your means to support me on this adventure. I must raise $7,400 for my trip. $3,000 of what I need is due by July 1st. There are several ways in which you can help me. Monthly pledges for the duration of the mission or a lump sum. No gift is too small and I am grateful for anything that you can do. Please do not feel obligated. I must admit thus far the toughest part has been to ask anyone for financial support. Thank you so much for all your love and support over the years. I look forward to sharing my adventure with you once I return.
I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, inviting you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to Adventures in Missions and return the response card with your donation to Adventures in Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation.
