Hi friends and family,
So many exciting things have been happening over the last few months as I prepare for my World Race! I wanted to share some of them with you. First thank you so much for your prayers and financial support. I wouldn’t have the courage or means to take this adventure without you.
So far with working full time at chickfila and with the help of so many generous souls who have contributed, I have raised $10,100 towards my trip so far. With the total of $14,806 needed to be fully funded that leaves me only $4,706 short. This is incredible!!! I am so thankful to everyone for the continuous prayers and support.
As of June 2016, I am officially a High School graduate! I have completed high school a year early by switching to an online program last year, and because of that I am all set to leave for Costa Rica on September 7th, 2016. Last time I shared with you my upcoming adventures, I planned on going to Thailand, Guatemala, and Malawi. But the Lord has continued to place the Philippines on my heart over the past year and I have been given the opportunity to switch to a new route with Adventures in Missions, that goes to Costa Rica for a month, Nicaragua for a month, Ethiopia for 2 months, Nepal for 2 months, and then the Philippines for 3 months! Also with the route change I will be leaving an entire month sooner than originally planned. This is so amazing and I’m so blessed to be given this opportunity.
As I’m writing this to you I am preparing to leave for training camp in Gainesville, GA next week (July 7-17th). I have purchased over $2,000 in gear with my savings to prepare for training camp and for the 9 months I will be living over seas; a 65 liter backpack in which I will be living out of the next year, a tent which is what I will be calling home, and other various camping supplies. And I can’t wait to update you with all these amazing things I will learn and experience at camp. I get to meet the 40+ people I will call family this next year, and begin to build relationships with each other and strengthen our relationships with the Lord together.
A few weeks ago I also received 8 shots! Yes, 8!! All of my vaccines needed to travel abroad, the more I prepare for this journey the more real it becomes and the closer it gets!
Thanks again for prayers and those who have contributed. And if you haven’t donated and are financially able to contribute and feel called to do so, I would sincerely appreciate it. Along with the $4,706 I still need in my World Race account, I also have to raise an additional $2,000 for personal living expenses over the 9 months. I will be blogging more frequently now, and would love for you to read about my journey. And I will send out another update early August sharing about training camp, and preparing for launch at the beginning of September.
thanks again for being apart of my journey,
Katy Nolasco
