Dear Ecuador,

You were better than I ever expected. When I found out that we were having all squad month during our time with you, my little introverted heart was immediately overwhelmed and I wanted to just skip ahead to Peru. But you captured my heart with your beauty and your people.

Ministry during my stay with you looked like playing a sport I’ve never played in my life, laughing with soccer players, exploring, loving, and showing Jesus to your people through my actions.

You taught me so much during my second month on the Race.

You taught me all the names the Lord calls me and how important I am to him.

You taught me that community is what you make it and unexpected friendships happen when you put yourself out there.

You showed me that adventure happens everywhere and it’s up to you to join in.

You taught me the value of the word yet. Everything in this world is something I can’t do YET.

You showed me that love is bigger than language and that a smile means the same thing universally.

You taught me that you can’t have too many Moms or Dads, and the ones who call you Princessita are some of your favorites.

You filled my life with people I will not soon forget and memories that I will treasure. Ecuador you were so good to me and I look forward to a time when our paths cross once more. Thank you Ecuador!

Seinceramente,

Katy May
