So like I said in my last post, going to a water village was not on my list of places I ever anticipated going to, but ended up being one of my very favorite places in the whole race. We got there on a Sunday and by 8:00 am the next day we were starting our English Program for the kids who go to church there in the water village. We lived in a 20 X 20 box that we couldn’t leave unless we took a boat out.
We did everything in this little house. We ate meals there. We had classes for the kids. We had team times, and we spent a good 12 hours under a giant big net on our mat that we called our bed for the month. We loved and hated that little room.
We even had church for the community in our little room. We met some of the loveliest people and got to laugh and dance with Cambodian children. We told Bible stories and handed out food to the local people.
One Saturday, we prepared a time of evangelism using the colored bracelet method of sharing the story of Jesus. We worked with the kids we had been teaching all month to share the gopsel with this community. The girl I was partnered with told me after our first group came through that her heart was racing so fast and that she was just so happy. In that moment I saw Jesus in the eyes of this 13 year old girl. I was more proud of her than anyone in a long time. Together we brought the kingdom just a little bit further than before.
My time out at the Floating Village is one I will never forget. Watch this video about our time out there.
