This month my team has been serving at Zion Cafe under Lighthouse Organization. We have the privilege to build relationships with the employees from various backgrounds, and love on them.

However, God is awesome and ministry doesn’t just happen in the cafe. Simone, Alysse and I have been spending time with a young Indian/Thai girl who works in a near by coffee shop. Let’s say her name is… Sarah. Sarah has been in Chiang Mai for 8 months and has no friends or family. She ran away from her abusive home to seek safety. Not telling a soul where she was. We learned that because Sarah is Indian she often is discriminated against, losing her last two jobs due to her ethnicity.

Simone, Alysse and I have been praying that Sarah would get the opportunity to live and work at Zion, to have an amazing community to love on her, and really just to feel safe for the first time in her life.

A couple nights ago we met up with Sarah and came to find out that she quit her job with the verbally abusive boss and didn’t know what to do. She cried to us because she had worked so hard, had never taken days off and was still let go.

We set up a time for her to meet Pi Emmi (the amazing women who started lighthouse). Short version, Pi Emmi offers Sarah a job and housing, gives her two days to think about it.

The girls and I were so stoked. God was aligning everything, this was it! Unfortunately a day later we were told by a squad mate that Sarah came by to say goodbye and she was going back to her family.

Hearing that news crushed us. Why was she making this decision, when clearly there was an amazing opportunity right here for her. After processing it all and giving it to God I’ve learned even when things seem thrown off, God is never thrown off. That he is faithful through it all. That he loves Sarah and just because she didn’t end up at Zion, I know she felt loved on and truly cared for for the first time in a long long time. My faith will not waver because a current circumstance, my Father is good. Heck good? No, he’s freaking awesome. I celebrate His plan for Sarah. Whatever it may be.
