When I was 16 years old, I traveled to Zambia on a missions trip. It was the furthest I had ever been from home. Something happened to me on that trip, I was ignited and revived in my faith. I had never felt more fulfilled. I was broken as I saw a whole new world desperate for the love of Jesus.

Two summers in Zambia, a week in South Tucson, and two weeks in the Dominican Republic have affirmed time and again that God has placed in me a desire to reach beyond my own world and share His love in whatever way I can.

Although I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the rest of my life; whether I’ll find a full-time job in the U.S. or be involved in missions long-term, I can tell you what I’ll be doing in the year of 2015…

…I’m going to take on the World Race. The Spanish Route. 11 Countries in 11 months.

That’s right! I’m packing up my bags and headed to 11 Latin American countries:
El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.

I am so beyond excited to see what God does in these 11 months. I cannot wait to see the beautiful cultures of Latin America. I cannot wait to go back to my roots and be immersed in Spanish-speaking countries for an extended period of time. Spanish is, in fact, my first language if you didn’t already know that.

This is a huge leap of faith for me. Truth be told, I thought I’d have some sort of career lined up by now as a college grad. I thought I’d have more of my life “figured out.” Even though I had known about the World Race for a while, I only recently stumbled upon the Spanish Route…and God set a spark in my heart. I knew I had to go for it.

So here I go. I leave for training camp in Atlanta, GA for one week on October 11. After that, I’ll be finishing up working here at home in Tucson and leave with my team from Atlanta in January.

I ask that you pray for me. I ask that you pray for the people I will encounter. Without Jesus, I can do little for these people. With Him, HE will do great things. I know this will be a challenge. It will most likely be the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’m going at this on my own – without family or friends.

But really, I won’t be alone. I’ll be serving alongside brothers and sisters in Christ on my team and in the countries we visit. And I know that your prayers will be with me. I pray the next year brings great and wonderful things for y’all as well. I won’t be here to experience them with you, but I’ll be looking forward, God willing, to returning and hearing of the beautiful things He has done in your lives.

So here it goes. Katrina takes on The World Race.

More details to come soon!
In the meantime, take a look around the tabs on my blog as I keep adding to them.

Love you all and God bless.

P.S. – The song below has been a great inspiration to me this year, as I have sought for more direction in my life. Take a listen, I know it’ll bless you.
