Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know I am in my last term at OSU, I officially graduate in December with degrees in Human Development and Family Sciences, and Elementary Education. I will also be certified to teach non-native English speakers with my ESOL endorsement. I am excited for my last term, as I will be working full-time as a student teaching in Turner, where I will be in a blended classroom with students in 1st and 2nd grade. I know this term will be a great ending to my college career.
What is even more exciting than finishing my degrees after five and a half long years is what I will be doing come January. God has placed the opportunity for my life to radically change for the better. In January I will be leaving my home here in Scio and everything I am used to for 11 months, where I will be living out of a backpack while I travel to eleven countries on a Christian mission trip called The World Race, through the organization Adventures in Missions(AIM). I along with a group of others will be traveling to Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Romania, Ukraine, South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia. One country each month, to spread the love of Jesus Christ and serve the people in each country in whatever ways we can. We may be found working in orphanages, teaching in classrooms, working on construction projects, to street evangelism and everything in between.
Here’s where you come in, and the hard part for me, I need to ask for help from you, my family and friends. You see my World Race can’t happen unless a few things happen:
1) Prayer: I need prayer partners who are committed to praying for me throughout my trip and preparation. This trip will be hard and life changing, and continual prayers for me, my team and our ministries will be continually needed. If you are willing to become a prayer partner please let me know, so I can keep you informed on the prayer requests that arise.
2) Financially: I need people to financially support me: The entire trip will cost close to $20,000, which will cover all my travel expenses, insurance, health care, and gear. I know that $20,000 is a lot to raise, but I strongly believe that it is possible. I know God wouldn’t have let me come this far only to let me fail in finding funding, I will be doing as much as I can to provide for my trip, including fundraisers and talking to organizations and companies around the area, but I know that won’t cover everything and I hope you will prayerfully consider donating to my trip if you can, every penny counts. My goal is to have $15,500 in my support account by January 1st so that when I am on the field I can focus on what God has planned for my trip rather than worry about gaining more financial support. My first deadline is October 1st, with $6,500 in my support account.
If you would like to partner with me financially, the three easiest ways include:
• CHECKS: Can be written to Adventures in Missions, with my name on the memo line, and mailed to Adventures in Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA 30353-4470. If you choose to donate by mail please include the enclosed response card, which tells AIM who the donations are going to and who is receiving the receipt.
• ONLILNE: If you would rather make an online donation you can visit my blog: katrinamorley.theworldrace.org and click on the “Support Me” link on the left side of the page.
• OTHER: Donations can also be sent to me directly, at PO Box 462, Scio, OR 97374. Where I can then send them into AIM or use them to help cover preparation costs, depending on what you allocate the funds for.
Adventures in Missions is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization and donations are tax-deductible.
More information can be found about the different donation types and details on the financial breakdown of my trip, on my blog under the blog post “Ways you can help/Financial Breakdown”.
Throughout my journey, I will be blogging and sending out newsletters and I invite you to follow along with me, see what I see, learn what I learn, and experience what I experience. To stay informed please e-mail me at
