  • My name is Katrina
  • I am 24, going on 25 (November 10)
  • I am from Scio, Oregon. It is a small town in the middle of the Willamette Valley….We are the grass seed capital of the world! I don't expect anyone to know where that is, or to even find it on the map!
  • I am an only child
  • I have been to three different colleges, and graduated from Oregon State University (GO BEAVS!) in December 2012, right before the Race. I graduated with two majors and an endorsement.  Simple put I will be able to teach
    ages 3 through 8th grade.
  • My Degrees are in:
    • Human Development and Family Sciences, with an emphasis in Early Childhood
    • Elementary Education
    • ESOL Endorsement
  • I love working with children, but sometimes it takes me a little time to open up to them.
  • I worked the last 2 years at our local youth club in the afterschool program and was EXTREMELY sad to quit. I miss the kids!
  • I have spent time working in a head start preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade (two different times) and 4th grade. I always wanted to teach the younger grades, but the more time I spend with the upper elementary grades, the more I love it.
  • I read too much! I tend to read and read and not get anything done until my book is finished.
  • I love Coffee, but not black coffee!
  • My first mission trip was to Mexico City in 2008, and I fell in love with the culture and people! I have been back twice since then, once in 2009 for the weekend to attend a wedding and most recently last summer in 2011. I love my Mexico family!
  • I speak Spanish, I am not confident in speaking it because I really don’t like making mistakes. But I loved being able to communicate in South America the first three months of the Race and look forward to talking with friends from Mexico City, now that I have had that time in South America.
  • I love to go hiking, and be outdoors in the Beautiful Pacific Northwest.
  • I love animals, my family is known for bringing in strays…. We had a baby opossum and a baby skunk this year, that my dad rescued. (We didn’t keep them)
  • Speaking of animals my parents and I have 9 cats and 1 dog.
  • I am the worst at knowing who famous people are or knowing what they do (what movies they are in, etc)
  • I love my church family and will miss them a lot when I am on the field. But I am excited to create a new family with my squad mates.
  • I attend a small Vineyard Church. We have an awesome historical building in countryside.
  • I teach Sunday school to our 3yrs-kindergarteners once a month
  • I hate getting my face wet!
  • The first time I traveled outside of the country was when I was between 7th and 8th grade, with People To People International. It was to the UK with 27 other middle schoolers and 2 adults. Ever since then I have wanted to travel the world.
  • I love to scrapbook, but never have the time.
  • I also did yearbook in high school, and was the editor. It bothers me when pictures/text are not aligned exactly!
  • I like to sew, both with a machine and cross stitching.
  • Jesus is my best friend, followed closely by the awesome Amy! (I can’t believe you’re getting married and moving away! I will be visiting as soon as I get a chance!)
  • I am beyond excited to see what God does in my life over the next year.

My parents, my best friend Amy and myself.
