Colossians 1: 16-20
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
We finish our food on our plates, we are careful with where we take our coffee, and we turn the shower off between shampooing and rinsing to save water.
We steward what we are given.
A large principle that we were taught by Fabi and Mabe last month in Ecuador is stewardship. I did not realize the impact they had on me until coming to a new place in Peru and continuing these habits without thinking.
The Lord wants us to steward the things He has given us. Everything we have is from God. We make wise choices, not comfortable choices to help those around us and give gratitude to whom it is deserved-God.
Finishing our plate is a sign of gratitude for the food we are given.
Not taking our coffee onto the couch is stewarding the furniture that God has blesses us with.
Turning the water off between showers is lowering our host’s water bill and helping them steward their money well.
Stewardship is about taking time to think about the gifts you have been given by the Lord, and how we can best serve Him in everything tiny detail of our life.
It is a sign of gratitude to the Father of His provision on our life.
Stewarding well is like saying “thanks God for giving me this. I am going to take care of because I am thankful that You allowed me to have it.”
Stewardship becomes much easier when it becomes a way we are praising and worshiping God than a chore that we have to do. My heart goes from “I have to…” to “I want to because I love and thank God so much for what I have been given.” I want to be more intentional to acknowledge the true source of my physical and spiritual blessings-God.
I strive for God to show me areas in my life that I can steward better: relationships, finances, knowing the truth of the Gospel and sharing it, the gifts Holy Spirit blesses me with, my time, my resources, among many other areas.
Everything is His and we are His, so let’s steward these things well.
Thank you Fabi and Mabe for instilling this principle into us. It is something that I will remember forever and incorporate into my own life.

For of Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things: to whom be glory forever
