Someone posed an interesting question to me recently:

What does God say when He looks at you?

As I pondered this question, all of my failures, insufficiencies, mistakes, and the many ways I had let God down over and over again began flooding my mind. I thought that God must me looking at me, telling me how disappointed He is over all the terrible things I have done. My face dropped, and I felt ashamed. I was too embarrassed to look the man who had asked me the question in the eye.

I thought, “How could God look at me with anything other than disgust?”

Sitting there in my shame and embarrassment, a sense of calm and relief came over me. It was like God was saying to me in the sweet and precious voice He has, not a voice that can be heard with ears, but a voice that can be felt in the heart, “You have messed up, but I took care of it for you.”

Oh what a thought!

The maker of the universe. The God of all creation. The one who placed all the stars in the sky, looked at me, a complete and utter mess, and said “I’ll handle it.”

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

1 Corinthians 6:20

God sent His son Jesus to “handle it” for me. I am overwhelmed to think that Jesus willingly suffered and died to redeem me and correct all of my mistakes!

Now I know, when God looks at me, He sees His child. The one he “bought with a price”. And, I can now clearly hear the voice of God telling me “I LOVE YOU!”
