Right now, you are breathing, I am breathing- we do this constantly and the physical act of breathing is, most often, subconscious. Something that also becomes subconscious is the fact that each and every time we breathe in, we are breathing in the breath of God. The breath of the Creator of the Universe. The same air that enters your mouth, lungs, and body was permitted to enter because God said so. Each time that you and I breathe out, it’s up to us what we are breathing out. With every word, every note of a song, every thought that we push out of our mouths… are we exalting the glory of God? Are we making what we breathe out equivalent to what we just breathed in?
Breathe in God’s breath- His blessing and gift (a gift that He is not obligated to give), breathe out ___________________.
It is my choice on what I am going to breathe out, what words I am going to speak, what songs I am going to sing. It is my choice on what I am going to do with the gift of breath God gives me.
“It is my choice…” aka, free will. The idea of free will SCREAMS at how just, loving, and good our Father is. Sometimes, actually most times, I wish that God would just make me worship Him, make me to follow Him, make me glorify again every time I exhale. What an easy life that would be!! But there’s a problem with “easy”. If everything and told who to be and told who to worship, nothing would be REAL or GENUINE. Our relationship with God would be like white washed tombs, absolutely dead on the inside.
HOW INCREDIBLE IS IT THAT OUR GOD IS SO PERSONABLE??? He chooses to have a real and genuine relationship with the ones who choose to have one back, instead of having billions of puppets who are forced worship Him.
If our life were “easy”, we wouldn’t need Jesus. First, how could such sinful, evil creatures not need a savior? We can’t ever come close to saving ourselves because we are so inherently bad. If Jesus didn’t come to reveal that to the effect that He did, where would we be?
If God didn’t give us free will, if God didn’t become flesh and come to earth, we would never have the opportunity to use our life time to dig, explore, expand, and bask in the glory of God.
God is good. God is just. God is love. God gave us the gift of free will- what are you going to do with it? When God gives you His breath to breathe in, what are you going to breathe out?
