Donna Wolfe, an American woman who works at the schools that are partnered with our ministry, asked if she could share a little bit about one of the students.
Here’s a summary of what she said…
There is a student at the Cuarto Christian High School. He is 19 years old, just graduated grade 10, and his name is Charlito. He isn’t especially strong in academics, but he has a persistence and dedication to work hard. Charlito and his younger brother Chris, who also just graduated 10th grade, both won the award of a “Servant’s Attitude” at their graduation ceremony. Charlito is the oldest of three siblings. His youngest brother Caesar is in grade 1 and in the special needs program at school. One of the teachers just finished teaching him how to read! His parents are both out of work and their family lives in a squatter’s village close to the high school. Charlito works extra jobs to support his family and Chris is having to turn down opportunities at school in order to do the same.
Donna tutored Charlito in math a couple of years ago and got to know him fairly well. When he would get something wrong or not understand what she was teaching, he would just look away- he is extremely shy. Charlito and his brother were both in the wood shop class at Cuarto Christian High School this past year. Charlito crafted a beautiful table for his family, while Chris made a sturdy bench that was used at their graduation ceremony.
…
Last weekend Donna and a few others drove Charlito and his mother to the hospital. Charlito had been sick with pneumonia for three months. The doctors ran tests and the news was awful. His lungs are full of fluids to the point where the doctors are unsure if they can be drained and he was diagnosed with pneumonia and tuberculosis. They also found tumors on and around his internal organs. He’s going back in a few days to be tested for cancer. PLEASE pray for him.
We worship the Creator of the Universe… PRAY for Charlito to be healed. GOD IS BIGGER THAN CANCER!
