At launch, one of the speakers gave every single person going on gap year (there’s 40-50 people on each squad, and 6 squads going out… so around 300 people!!!) a key necklace with a word on it. We wear our keys until we find the meaning of the word, live into it, and once we feel like we have grown in that word, we give it to someone else who we think needs to live into that word and be impacted by it. My key was engraved with the word, “TRUTH”. I was pretty certain my key meant I should start being honest about my past and begin living in truth… BUT THEN I WENT TO MOTHER’S CLUB !!! We were the ones who were supposed to be teaching them and sharing testimonies and bible stories, but I ended up learning a lot too. We focused Mother’s Club on the idea that our worth and value was determined at the cross. That God views us as His beloved daughters and nobody LITERALLY NOBODY can take that away from us. We need to view ourselves through God’s eyes because it is the only thing that matters. He is the only one who speaks TRUTH. I am praying and would really appreciate prayers for me to start hearing only what God has to say about me.
During journey markers (journey markers is a weekly bible study that is having us read through Luke and learn how to live more like Jesus and have a missional centered life) this week, one of the questions was about our goals/dreams for the World Race. I have sooooo so so many, but the two dreams I want to especially focus on are…
- Creating, strengthening, maintaing, and thriving in a friendship with Jesus. I want it to be so rooted that it can’t just melt away when I get home.
- I want to see myself and others in God’s eyes. I want to love myself and others the way God does.
Why these two things????
Because I think that if I am able to achieve these goals it will lay a solid foundation for my entire life. It will continue to promote Him within me and grow our relationship.
I am still so confused on how to get to where I want to be with God, BUT…. I am starting to get a better idea on where I want to get to with Him!!
We leave our ministry site on Wednesday (ALSO MY MOM’S BIRTHDAY IS ON TUESDAY EVERYONE SHOOT HER A TEXT!!!!) and have our first debrief. We will have consistent wifi so I would love to hear from anyone who wants to hear more about what we did this month or just talk! I hope you all are well!!!!
