HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY!!!! I hope you all had an amazing day filled with love and family and tons of food!
The family we live with have never had a team during November…. which means they’ve never had a team during Thanksgiving. We took this as a mission- we were going to throw the best Thanksgiving ever!
Some of you may know that we live on a tight food budget and only get $5 a day… but that didn’t stop us from making:
1. two whole chickens baked with onions, potatoes, and butternut squash
2. creamy, garlic mash potatoes
3. green bean casserole
4. stuffing
5. mac and cheese
6. homemade rolls
7. beans
8. gravy
but we didn’t stop there… for dessert we had:
1. peach cobbler
2. apple cobbler
3. banana pudding
4. peanut butter and honey rice krispe treats
5. chocolate chip cookies layered with brownies mix
We shared bible verses, everyone shared a few things they were thankful for, there may or may not have been a skit about the origin of Thanksgiving. It was such a fun night and so amazing to have the opportunity to share a little bit of America with our Botswana hosts.
Our hosts were very thankful that we included them in the holiday that they’ve heard so much about. They were beyond impressed with our decorations and the food! It was seriously such an incredible, incredible night and a Thanksgiving I will never forget. I loved cooking with my friends in the kitchen all day and getting to celebrate with them and our new family at night. Like seriously I am so THANKFUL for this day and being in Botswana for Thanksgiving.
Also on the topic of things to be thankful for…. I AM FULLY FUNDED!!!! Praise Jesus! Thank you everyone who has helped support me in all the ways you guys have. This trip wouldn’t exist or be anywhere close to the same without your support and prayers- thank you!
One last thing, I have been learning a whole, whole lot already and I cannot wait to share with you guys a little more about it next week!
