Today we drove 10 min to a place called Pierre Payen. We went there to spread the gospel and talk to people in the community. Half of my team and all of another team went with our leader and two translators. We talked to a handful of people, most of whom were believers- which is very exciting to encourage them in their faith and get to pray over them!
After an hour of talking to people, we climbed these steep handmade steps up to a little house. There was an old lady at the top who we began to talk to. She said she couldn’t become a Christian yet because All Saint’s Day was coming up and she had to preform voodoo acts for her deceased mother. We tried to talk to her more about this but she quickly felt uncomfortable and woke up her daughter to come sit with her. Her daughter, Misma, was in her early twenties. After a while of talking to both of these women, Misma’s mother became upset, washed her hands because of the conversation, and left. Misma stayed and listened to what we had to say, some of which included, our testimonies, a basic explanation of Christianity, the gospel, and other verses.
Our translator, Shama, asked Misma if she died today, where she would go. Her response was “I’m going to be with Satan.” Before today, she never knew that she had any other options. She never knew that she didn’t have to spend eternity with Satan after she died. We automatically poured into her more and more. We sat with her for the longest time talking things through. We told her that she can accept Jesus whenever and we could even help her do it today. The whole time we had been talking she hadn’t looked up from the ground…. until NOW! She looked up, smiled, and said “yes”!!!!! Lucie lead her in a salvation prayer- Lucie prayed, Shama translated, and Misma repeated.
We talked to her afterwards about not being ashamed of the gospel and sharing encouragement! TODAY WE HAVE A NEW SISTER IN CHRIST!!!!
It was seriously such an incredible blessing that God trusted us enough to talk to Misma and bring her to Him! We are going to find a way to bring her a Creole bible as soon as possible. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue praying for Misma and her faith to flourish and spread to everyone in her community!
