If there is anything I’m passionate about it is people. Honestly, I could spend all day and all night with people and never get tired of them. I’ve always had the heart of a Kingdom worker, a heart to help and serve others. Never once did I think the World Race would be where I ended up. In 2017, I went on a missions trip to Haiti for 10 days. I came back from that trip with an entirely different outlook on everything. I felt called more and more to missions work; missions as a lifestyle is how I would like to describe it. Haiti opened my eyes in so many different ways. Not only did it make me want to leave this country and go help those in poverty but it made me want to just simply do missions here in Kansas; even here in my tiny hometown.
I kept hearing a lot of “what are your plans for the future,” or “what are you majoring in college” questions. I was clueless. I would either come up with something on the spot or say ‘missions’ because I knew that’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Then I heard about the World Race. I began to pray for months on end. “Is this what I am being called to do?” I wondered to myself.
I would love to announce that with answered prayers I have decided this is my calling for next year. I have been accepted into the World Race Gap Year program!!! I will leave in September 2019 for 9 months. I will spend 3 months in each of the following countries: Costa Rica, Cambodia, and Swaziland. I am beyond excited for how my faith will grow along this journey and the unimaginable ways my eyes will be opened. I thank you so much for taking time to read this far into the blog and invite you to make yourself part of my journey. Also I would love for you to help me alongside this journey, whether it be with prayers or financial support.
