Today was our last day of ministry, and while I could talk a ton about what we’ve been doing or why I love it, I decided to show you! Sooo… vlog time! Check it out! (This is my first time embedding a vlog here so if it’s not working here’s the YouTube link: https://youtu.be/9WB1S5JVRj8 )
Place of Grace is run by this incredible couple named John and Gillian, who moved here ten years ago from the UK and have such a heart for Thailand and its people. (Here’s their website: http://placeofgracebangkok.org/en.html) The past six years here they’ve been working to grow Place of Grace, giving a safe place for kids from the slum communities to come and play while learning about Jesus. They’ve seen kids rise out of poverty and children go missing, two sides so different, and they love all the kids no matter what. Some sixteen year old girls we met here had left Place of Grace to live with these boys in their apartment doing things that anywhere else would be called prostitution, but here that’s just not talked about. But the most amazing thing is that those girls a few weeks ago while we were here walked right into Place of Grace, even knowing that John and Gillian didn’t approve of their lifestyle, and felt welcomed and loved. John and and Gillian told them to come back next week and they did, and they just get to come here and watch movies with us and be sixteen year old girls with a crazy big family who loves them, because we’re all brothers and sisters in Christ.
We’ve played with these kids, taught them some English, laughed with them at our horrible Thai, baked them so many cookies, cut cardboard for crafts, and smiled in the place of words. We’ve been so blessed to be here and support John and Gillian’s mission, loving these kids, showing them Jesus, and giving them a place to call home and a family of believers to come home to. It’s sad to leave, but I’m so thankful we’ve had this opportunity to come share Jesus’s love with the children here. It’s beautiful to share the Gospel even without words and to so simply give another person a place to be free. Thank you, Place of Grace, for a beautiful month.
