Another month of the World Race is over! Its hard to believe we are already into our third month on this journey, and our final month in Europe. Time flies! I will have some deeper, more spiritually minded blogs on their way hopefully this week, but for now, I'll just recap our month in Ukraine.
This month, we were able to build some incredible relationships within the community we lived in. Through our wonderful translators, Ira and Nona, we were able to learn the stories of the families we worked with daily. There were countless stories of God turning terrible, heartbreak situations completely around into something beautiful, all for His glory. I was and am honored to have met the people I did there!
Some situations we encountered:
-We fought a forest fire. Only one of Georgia's t-shirts were lost in this process. (Don't worry, she wasn't wearing it!)
-We almost got in several car crashes due to cows crossing the road.
-We painted an school with the most foul smelling oil paint ever. It was a pretty sketch paint job. ha
-We jumped off some 25 foot sketchy scaffolding into a gorgeous beach on the Black Sea. It only took me about 20 minutes to build the courage.
-We played How Great Is Our God at least 3 times each week, because it was the only song we knew that the church body also knew, except in Russian.
-We worked with a construction guy who knew no English, and we knew very, very little Russian. Every day included charades and sound effects. Its amazing how much you can explain without using words!
-We celebrated Ukrainian Independence Day in Sevestople, watching fireworks over the Black Sea!
-We slept on a 16 hour overnight train that took us from Kiev to the southern tip of Ukraine. Our sleeping arrangements for the trip was two from our group and two strangers per room. Nbd.
-We encountered THE busiest McDonalds imagineable. There was almost no walking room. Crazy.
Thanks to Eagle Village, Ukraine and everyone at Hope House for your hospitality this last month! You were such an incredible blessing to us!
Lastly, enjoy this video made by my wonderful teammate KJ! It so perfectly sums up our team and our month!
