It seems like it was days ago that we left Washington DC and even longer that I left Anacortes. We’ve only been in Ireland for 40 hours or so and already God has blessed us abundantly! I miss Anacortes and all of my family back home, but I have such an incredible group that I am with, and I feel so at home with them!
We left DC at 10 PM on Friday night and took a red eye to Dublin, Ireland. Our group was split in half, so we only had about 25 people on our flight, and we were spread throughout the plane. We got to the airport about 10 hours early, so of course some shenanigans ensued. The best (and worst) was when Meghan T and I went to a perfume shop and, instead of spraying me once with cologne, she sprayed me 5 times…right before we boarded a 7 hour flight. It was pretty hilarious how everyone could smell me from 20 feet away.
Because our flight was international, we all had personal movie screens and a great selection of movies to watch. I finally got to watch The Vow before falling asleep, so that was great! We got to Dublin about 10:15 AM, and almost right after getting off the plane, I realized I had left my cell phone in the seatback pocket. After talking to some guys at the airport and a bit of waiting, I got it back but it caused some confusion and we lost Caleb and KJ missed our bus. The rest of us took a bus to Belfast and all waited for a couple of hours while we waited for the missing people to show up. We then took another bus to the town we will be in for the next couple of weeks, Coleraine. The city is pronounced ‘cool rain’ and that pretty well describes the city. Its been a bit chilly but all of us have enjoyed it a lot after the sticky heat in DC.
My next blog will cover a bit about the ministry we will be working with, but for now, know that we are all safe in Northern Ireland!
