This last week, we’ve been at Lake Atitlan on a team retreat. Its been amazing to spend some solid time together as a team, growing closer together and becoming a family. We spent a lot of time honing in on our vision for this base, and how we can effectively execute our vision. For me, it was wonderful to get a clear idea of how my next few months will be spent. Summer here is pretty crazy, with hosting teams and having a lot of people in and out. Now that we’re heading into the fall, we have a solid team and a solid plan of movement.

So what is the movement? What is the vision?

We are about discipling and sending. We are about raising up a generation of Guatemalans who know the love of the Father and want to go to the nations to spread that same love. This is a long term vision. Its not going to happen overnight. We are currently in the process of building relationships with different ministries all over Guatemala. We seek out people of peace, and we serve alongside them. We are looking for the one.

Yesterday, we spent a few hours at an orphanage on the Lake. I met a 15 year old girl there, and we had a really amazing conversation. I asked her what her biggest dream for her life was, and her response both shocked and humbled me.

“I want to go to Russia and to Italy and be a missionary.”

This is a 15 year old girl, raised in an orphanage. She knows her identity as a daughter. As our conversation continued, I saw the maturity in this girl. She told me how she prays for her friends, that they would know the  love of the Lord. She said that she constantly prays that she would grow, that she would stop doing bad things. This girl is hungry, and she is motivated.

This girl is the ‘one’ we are looking for.

I cannot express how excited I am to begin walking out this vision with my family here. We’ve had a lot of movement here over the summer, people coming and people going, but we now have a solid group. We’re here for the rest of the year and longer, here to invest and grow together as a family.

We spent the last few days making memories together. We hiked a mountain at sunrise, visited a nature reserve, climbed a massive tree, and just bonded. Its been an amazing week, and we are so ready to step into this next season! Will you help me enter this season strong?

I am looking for people to partner with me as I continue to serve here in Guatemala. I am in need of monthly partners totaling $800 a month. I currently have $120 of support coming in monthly. The funds donated not only pay for my living expenses here, but also fund our ministry. They help us to be able to travel around the country, ministering to other long-term missionaries and pastors. These funds allow us to take in Guatemalans to our family and disciple them.

If you are interested in partnering with me and with our ministry here, please check out my home page on this blog. There are several different donation options. Please feel free to contact me with any and all questions you may have!
