Thanksgiving.
My family never made a big deal out of Thanksgiving.
Its usually just four people, if even that.
We eat our turkey, potatoes, stuffing and olives.
We eat our pie.
We scour the ads for Black Friday shopping.
We sleep.
We drink coffee.
Thats that.

This year, Thanksgiving is looking different to me.
Sure, we are following the same loose traditions as normal.
But as I look at my future
Things feel different.
I will be spending next Thanksgiving in Africa.
I will be away from my family.
But I will be spending it with my World Race family.
I can't even place any expectations on it.

Thanksgiving is a day to count your blessings.
I will be the first to say that I am an extremely blessed person.
I have an amazing family.
Incredible friends.
A wonderful job.
A car to drive.
A beautiful island to live on.
I have a roof over my head.
I have clothes to keep me warm.
I could go on and on.

My journey with the World Race started just less than two months ago.
In those two months, I have been more blessed than I imagined.
Most of my family has been extremely supportive.
My friends have been so excited for me.
I have had so many people offer to help with various things.
Helping with a fundraiser dinner…
Filming a promotional video…
Giving advice…
Praying…
Getting excited with me…
Giving me ideas for fundraising…
I could go on and on.

I'm still in the early stages of this adventure.
I'm not leaving for 7 months.
But I have so many people surrounding me
In love
In prayer
In support
In hugs
In laughs
It means the world to me.

This year,
I am spending my Thanksgiving thanking God for the community He has surrounded me with.
I am SO blessed.
I feel so loved.
Thank you, all of you
For being a part of my life
In big ways or small
You have made a difference.
