I’ve only been in Nepal for 3 weeks, but I know it’s going to be the best time yet. The boys are having “manistry” month, so all of the girls are living in one house doing ministry together. Although I miss the boys, it has been sweet getting to know new people and become closer with the girls.
So far, I have gotten to love a multitude of kids, I’ve played soccer with slum children, and been able to give meals to them at our events. Mission work here is amazing. Each day I walk 2 miles to our host’s home, to spend an hour in God’s presence before heading out to ministry. Mornings are spent reading my bible and worshiping with my squad.
A lot of things we do are completely spirit led. One day, we spent 20 minutes soaking in what God was telling us to do that day and drew any pictures or words we saw on a sheet of paper. We then spent the afternoon in the slums, getting to pray for people while looking out for the pictures we had drawn. Although this was something that was hard for me, it was encouraging seeing my teammates pictures match up with people in the slums. God was so present in that moment.
Last week, we spent a day walking 7 miles to invite kids in the slums to play soccer with us and have a warm meal. It was filled with a lot of smiling kids, and a lot of joyful memories.
Lots of ministry days are very spirit led. We spent a day last week sitting with God and asking him what he had for us that week. Some people saw images and others heard words. Some examples of things my team saw were a girl in a red shirt and red pants, us visiting a hospital, and a man cooking with a black beanie on his head. We spent the day walking around the city looking for these things. Ministry has been very fruitful and I’m excited for more to come!
